THE MAMMALS
The Mammals are a five-piece Americana band from Woodstock, NY. “A string band at the core, The Mammals augment their sound with drums and electric guitar to create a collectively harmonized howl as thrilling and rocking as any band currently subverting folk traditions” - No Depression The band features stand-out songwriters Mike Merenda and Ruth Ungar (sometimes known as Mike + Ruthy) lifted by a thrilling rhythm section of bass, drums and pedal steel. In their initial days on the scene, The Mammals were known for their rabble-rousing musical statements which sometimes caused a stir with politically divided audiences from Louisiana to Michigan. Their current lyrics have wandered back to the political with a strong, new sense of purpose that stems from parenthood, partnership and an adventuresome life on the road.
The Mammals have released a rowdy live-in-the-living-room video of the song "On My Way Home" and are digitally releasing a pair of topical tunes, "Culture War" and “My Baby Drinks Water” Spring 2017. A new full length record is slated for release in early 2018. They're in the studio capturing road-tested songs that like "Maple Leaf" and "When My Story Ends," experimental journeys like "I Dreamed" and "Open the Door" and some brand new beauties and foot-stompers to boot.
"The Mammals don’t suffer from multiple genre syndrome, they celebrate it as if gleefully aware that the sound barriers separating old-timey music, vintage pop, and contemporary folk are as permeable as cotton.” - Washington Post

SASSAFRAS STOMP
Sassafras Stomp is a high-energy folk band from central Maine. Weaving together diverse fiddle traditions with a strong rhythmic sensibility, fiddler Johanna Davis and guitarist Adam Nordell build a rich, dynamic roots sound marked by driving rhythms and sweet harmony vocals. The band is known for producing a surprisingly large and exciting sound, augmented by a cross-tuned fiddle, unconventional guitar playing, a harmonium-like shruti box and French Canadian foot percussion.
2016 saw the release of the duo's newest album, Walk These Fields, which features original songs and fiddle tunes inspired by the farm landscape. The album reflects Davis and Nordell's work growing organic grains and vegetables at Songbird Farm, which they run in Unity, ME.
