THE BIG BREAKDOWN at Union Hall in Searsport Saturday, June 24 7:30pm $10 at the door (free for 14 and under!) Live from Searsport's historic Union Hall, the Big Breakdown features five musical acts and a rotating cast of backup players in a fast-paced review, with debut full-band performances of solo projects by Hunter Finden and Wesleigh Sterrs (wilder Thing) of Midcoast garage/punk trio Jim Dandy, electronic soundscapes and grooves from Quantum, instrumental braindrone and space jazz from The AceTones, a rare full-band performance of songs by Ethan Andrews and more. We are excited to be supporting this fantastic community organized event. We'll see you there! More about the bands: THE ACE TONES An instrumental trio named for the '60s combo organ played by Ethan Andrews, with Al Crichton (baritone sax) and Willis Crichton (drums), the AceTones evolved from "playing" audience members' portraits into a spaced out dance band with one song for all occasions. WILDER THING Wesleigh Sterrs, drummer for the punk/garage band Jim Dandy, has quietly amassed a catalog of psychedelic garage rock recordings under the nom de creep wilder Thing. His songs will be performed live for the first time with a full band. HUNTER FINDEN Jim Dandy's feral frontman turns out to be just as adept at sweetheart guitar pop. His original songs will get their first full-band reading here. QUANTUM Jason Dean (vocals and drum machines) and Mike Whitehead (bass) bring their unique mix of ambient electronic soundscapes and '80s post-punk grooves out of the musty clubs of the Midcoast and onto the big stage, with guest players. ETHAN ANDREWS The longtime studio tinkerer last performed his songs of love and money live at the 2013 Free Range Music Festival. This time there will be horns. |
